As our passion lies in the conservation and thermal upgrade on older houses we are often required to “Help a house breath again”. In a lot of instances, we come across old stone and brick houses that have been plastered with modern materials or simply decorated with the wrong product and this requires us to start the process of helping the house breath again. This normally requires us to remove any non-breathable materials from the building fabric and replacing it with materials that perform better with the traditional building techniques used decades or centuries ago.
TRADITIONAL PLASTERS & LIME RENDERS
We work close with building physicists, conservation architects and heritage bodies to ensure that we are installing the correct product onto the building in hand to make sure that the works carried out will never be detrimental to the original building fabric.
Quite often this part of the process goes hand in hand with the thermal upgrade, however on occasion the client just wants the building brought back to its original state with all the character and benefits associated with these older buildings. In this case the house will be renovated and brought back to its natural state using traditional materials combined with mostly traditional methods but often coupled with come modern more advanced application methods.
At this stage we can also advise on the appropriate finishing products and installers to finish off the project to the same exacting standards we expect from our own installations as we know that every aspect of the project is as important as the next and we promised to help you through the process from start to finish.
